Grand Dafam, Panorama of M. Merapi from a Modern-style Hotel

The Dafam Hotels & Resorts Indonesia, a leading local hotel chains, in collaboration with PT Sapto Hargo Manunggal, officially soft-launched its new four-star hotel, The Grand Dafam MM Yogyakarta at Jalan Seturan Raya, Sleman, Yogyakarta on Wednesday, February 29, 2012.

Located in the center of business district in the eastern Yogyakarta with only a quick minute from Adi Sucipto International Airport and about fifteen minutes to the famous city shopping center Jalan Malioboro and fifteen minutes away from the magnificent Prambanan Temple make the hotel a perfect and relaxing spot to overnight for either business or leisure travelers.

The seven-floor hotel also offers 134 spacious luxury rooms with 18 Executive rooms, 6 Executive Balcony rooms, 2 Suites and 2 Royal Suites in a combined atmosphere of modern-style hotel, the view of Mount Merapi and its natural panorama. In the near future, the hotel will also be equipped with a swimming pool, one-stop entertainment and shopping arcade.

According to Andhy Irawan, Managing Director of the Dafam Hotel Management, the hotel also offers a touch of Yogyakarta, ranging from the hospitality of the employees up to the culinary presented. “Hospitality is the main concern in this kind of business and that is our priority,” he said.

In addition, Andhy explained, to support local culture and tourism business, the management will organize Corporate Cultural Responsibility (CCR) by introducing the local potentials, cultures and traditional performance arts to the guests and hold a regular press tours to nearby tourist attractions.

The soft-opening event was also attended by the Regent of Sleman Sri Purnomo, the chairman of Yogyakarta Hotels Association (PHRI) Istidjab Danunagoro, the chairman of Yogyakarta Tour & Travel Agents Association (ASITA) Edwin Ismedi Himna, and the Head of Tourism Office of Yogyakarta M. Tazbir.

Sri Purnomo said that the existence of new hotels in Sleman should accommodate partnership with local government in terms of supporting the tourism growth within the region as the hotel occupancy is increased every year.

Previously named Merapi Merbabu Hotel, this is the sixth hotel have been established by the management. Next, the management will operate six more hotels: Luwuk Hotel in Central Sulawesi (2012), Dafam Hotel Surabaya (2013), Royal Dafam Hotel Bali (2013), Makassar, South Sulawesi (2013), Singkawang, West Kalimantan (2013), and Vio Pasteur Hotel Bandung.***(eka)
